FAQs
Find answers to common questions from our patients
If your child knocks out a tooth, it’s important to act quickly. For a permanent tooth, try to place it back in the socket without touching the root, or keep it in a container of milk and head to our office immediately. For a baby tooth, contact us for advice on the best next steps.
Over-the-counter pain relief, such as ibuprofen, can help manage your child’s discomfort until you can get to our office. Applying a cold compress to the outside of the cheek near the affected area can also reduce swelling and numb the pain.
A pediatric dental emergency includes situations like severe tooth pain, a broken or knocked-out tooth, abscesses, or any injury that causes bleeding, swelling, or difficulty eating or speaking. If you’re unsure, it’s always better to err on the side of caution and contact our office for guidance.
